This walk is for young birders (ages 8 - 17).
Sweetwater Wetlands is a complex of man-made wetlands that treat wastewater from Gainesville as well as provides habitat for a wide variety of birds. There are several miles of trails and boardwalks that provide easy access to the area. Highlight birds include wading birds, rails, bitterns, N. Harrier, Snail Kites, Swallows, Spotted Sandpiper, Purple Martin, Indigo Bunting and early migrating songbirds.
We are excited to have three college students of the UF GREBE chapter of Audubon that will be leading us. Optional picnic lunch (bring your own) at Bivens Arm Nature Park at 12:15 pm to go over the bird list and to socialize with the other birders.
Participants are encouraged to join the Florida Young Birders Club ($10/year membership)
