Approximately 25% of all undergraduate students are parents, according to data from the National Postsecondary Student Aid Study. Of the almost 4 million students who are raising children while in college, about 70% are mothers and 30% are fathers.

Furthermore, across all institutional models of higher education, 42% of all undergraduate parenting students attend community college. This is the strong majority.

The annual Pregnant and Parenting Students Conference seeks to give voice to those stories, celebrate their resilience, highlight their excellence, encourage their hearts, and elevate the awareness and resources to support their success.

Featured Presenters include Whitnet Gilliard, Kim B. Miller, Ariel Ventura, and Irene Hernandez.

Our sponsoring institutions, Mount Wachusett Community College, Northern Virginia Community College, and Santa Fe College, are holders of Child Care Access Means Parents In School (CCAMPIS) federal grants. This program supports the participation of low-income parents in postsecondary education through the provision of campus-based child care services. Funds are used to support or establish campus-based child care programs primarily serving the needs of low-income students enrolled in IHEs. Grants may be used for before- and after-school services. In addition, grants may be used to serve the child care needs of the community served by the institution.
