Exceptional Student Education (ESE) Family Workshop: Executive Function: Guardianship Advocacy

  • When: Thursday, May 6, 2021,  6:00 pm -  7:30 pm
  • Location: online
  • Cost: FREE

*Appropriate for caregivers of ESE students in middle and high school who will require guardianship at 18 years of age. *When a child turns 18, the legal system presumes that he or she is now an adult and entitled to make independent decisions. For someone whose decision-making is impaired, there are ways to help in those decisions by trusted adults/parents. For some, a document like a power of attorney might be appropriate. For others, the only option will be a type of guardianship. At this workshop an attorney who works primarily with persons with disabilities will teach families on how to navigate this process. Additionally, information will be provided to help families learn about what to expect if they file for guardianship without an attorney
