Young Birders Club Walk (Alachua Audubon Society) - Boulware Springs

  • When: Sunday, February 15, 2026,  9:00 am - 10:30 am
  • Location: Boulware Springs Park, Gainesville, FL US 32641
  • Cost: Free

Meet trip leader Maggie Paxson in the parking lot for the Hawthorne Trail Access at Boulware Springs, approximately here: 29.621914,-82.308425 (parking area North of waterworks entrance). We'll take a leisurely walk North down the Hawthorne trail, looking out for red-tailed hawks, American kestrels, shrikes, and site specialties red-headed woodpeckers and bobwhite quail. We'll return through the fields East of the Hawthorne trail, where an unpaved but level trail crisscrosses through a mixture of fire-treated pine and dry grassland, for a round trip of about a mile.

The Gainesville YBC is open to students aged 9-18, but younger siblings are welcome with parental supervision. Students should wear closed-toe shoes and sunscreen and bring water for the walk. You may also wish to apply bug spray. Loaner binoculars are available for students who cannot bring their own pair.
