City Nature Challenge: Alachua County

  • When: Sunday, April 27, 2025,  9:00 am
  • Location: see description for details, Gainesville, FL
  • Cost: See description for details

Get ready to explore the wild side of Alachua County! Join the Santa Fe College Teaching Zoo, UF Department of Wildlife Ecology and Conservation IFAS Extension, and local community partners as we participate in the City Nature Challenge — a global community science event encouraging people to connect with nature and document the wildlife around them.

When: April 25-28, 2025
Where: Your backyard, local parks, nature trails — anywhere you can find wildlife!
During these four days, we’re challenging YOU to get outside, snap photos of the plants, animals, and fungi you encounter, and upload your observations to iNaturalist. It's a fun and easy way to contribute to real science while discovering the incredible biodiversity in our own community. Plus, iNaturalist will even help you identify what you’re seeing!

Our community partners are hosting guided hikes before and during the four-day bioblitz. They're a great way to meet other nature lovers, learn how to use iNaturalist, and make a big impact on local conservation efforts. Check back to see updates!
