Calling all Junior Rangers! April is National Poetry Month. This time of year Ichetucknee Springs State Park State are feeling inspired by our bubbling springs, wadding limpkins, and majestic manatees. We invite our Jr. Rangers to get inspired too!
For our April edition of Jr. Ranger Hangout, we'll be having a "Haiku Hour". We'll start in the picnic area on the North side of the park to refresh our understanding of haikus. We'll then take a walk to the headspring to look for poetic inspiration. Everyone will be given time to write their own haikus before we join back together at the end to share. This will earn our Jr. Rangers their "Recreation" stamp.
Participants do not need to enrolled as Jr. Rangers already to join in on the fun. This program will be most appropriate for learners 9+ years old, or those who understand and can identify syllables. The walk to Blue Hole Spring is 0.4 miles one way. Half of the walk is on boardwalk, while the other half is an unpaved path with a small amount of roots or holes.
