The U.S. Air Force Academy Band’s Falconaires jazz ensemble are bringing their high-energy big band sound to Gainesville. The Falconaires are a 20-piece big band made up of active duty professional Airmen-musicians who tour the country performing a mix of both classical and cutting-edge jazz. Listeners will enjoy familiar hits from jazz luminaries such as Count Basie, Stan Kenton, and Glenn Miller, as well as brand new music written especially for this dynamic ensemble. The only musical ensemble which can genuinely trace its heritage back to the American military band is the big band. Made popular by its mainstream appeal during WWII, the big band continues to present a sound and excitement unmatched by any other musical ensemble. A unique and historic component to the heritage of the
United States Air Force Academy, the Falconaires have brought the great sounds of big-band jazz to international audiences for over 50 years. In the time-honored tradition of the famous big bands, led by historic figures such as Count Basie, Stan Kenton and Major Glenn Miller, this group of 20 full-time jazz musicians continues this heritage by performing the best jazz of the past, present and future in support of the United States Air Force Academy public relations and the United States Air Force and the United States Space Force recruiting.
