Calling all Junior Rangers! Florida is under siege by undercover invasive plants. Florida is fortunate to have a wide variety of distinct ecosystems and wildlife, including 230 endemic plant species and 269 endemic animal species. That is more than almost any other state. The damage caused by invasive species is second only to the destruction of habitat through human development.
Our recruits will train to become Florida Plant Investigators (FPI). Together we'll study our case files in order to learn how to identify local invasive plants and their negative impact. We'll also discuss how to prevent future offenders.
This will earn our Junior Rangers their "Natural Resources" stamp in the Junior Ranger passport. However, participants do not need to enrolled as Jr. Rangers already to join in on the fun. This program will be most appropriate for learners 9+ years old.
