The Writers Alliance of Gainesville is pleased to announce the 4th annual Sunshine State Book Festival aimed at bringing readers and writers together on January 27-28, 2023. This two-day event is free and open to the public.
Enhancing North Central Florida’s cultural landscape, this annual event is produced by the Writers Alliance of Gainesville with support from local sponsors. So come enjoy the festival—rain or shine!
The festival will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church, 4000 NW 53 Avenue, east of I-75 in Gainesville. A Friday night reception to welcome the public and the authors gets going at 7 pm and ends at 9 pm, while the Saturday session begins at 10 am and runs until 5 pm.
Visitors can interact with 150 authors, purchase their books, and have them signed. With books available in 15 genres, there will be something for readers of all ages, including books for adults, young adults, children, and picture books for the littlest bookworms. Coloring sheets, an Emotatude Game, and stories read by authors will be there for children.
Ten readings by festival authors, a keynote address by noted author Janis Owens, a panel discussion on sci-fi and fantasy world-building, and 14 children’s storytellers are just a few exciting literature-related activities available to attendees. In addition, hourly drawings for free books will encourage attendees to experience the incredible diversity shown by authors from across the state and beyond.
Visit the Sunshine State Book Festival website for details about this year’s authors and speakers.
There will be drawings for free books!
