Arthropod Zoo Pop-Up at Ichetucknee Springs State Park

Researchers from the University of Florida's Entomology and Nematology Department are visiting with some six-legged friends, and there will be insects available to handle! Come by our air-conditioned, visitor center anytime during this window.
These insect ambassadors teach us about where different insects live and how they are adapted to their environments. We also learn about the vital role insects play in their environments. Visitors are welcome to come and go at any time during this window of time.
There will be one tarantula available for handling during this program. This is a trained spider that is accustomed to groups of people. At any sign of stress, it is placed in a secure, clear container for viewing instead. If you wish for the tarantula to be secured in its enclosure during your visit, please express this to the instructors, who will be happy to adjust.
