Florida Youth Birding Club Walk - all students welcome!

  • Location: Sweetwater Wetlands Park 325 SW Williston Rd, Gainesville, FL 32601
  • Cost: This is a free walk but parking at Sweetwater is $5 payable through the city Parking app.

Interested in learning more about birds and meeting fellow young people with similar interests?

The Gainesville chapter of the Florida Youth Birding Club is open to students aged 9-17 and seeking new members! Join us for our first walk this SATURDAY, MAY 24, 9 am-11 am at Sweetwater Wetlands Park.

Meet trip leader Maggie Paxson at the front pavilion with the bathrooms by the parking lot. Parents are welcome to attend with their students on this easy, beginner friendly walk.

We'll look for summer residents including local celebrity nesting purple martins, and talk about the importance of Sweetwater to the prairies ecology.

Please make sure your student brings water and wears sunscreen and closed-toe shoes. Binoculars are recommend, but some pairs will be available to borrow from Alachua Audubon.
