Loads of Learning GNV is a program that uses everyday spaces to promote a love of reading and learning for children and families. By facilitating storytimes and reading activities in local laundromats equipped with cozy children's furniture and books, you can create positive learning experiences for our community.
This is a partnership-based program that involves several organizations in the Gainesville area.
Locations:
• Fresh Laundry and Café (3830 SE 13th St.): Tuesdays from 4-6 pm & Saturdays from 9-11 am
• DJ Laundry (318 SW 16th Ave.): Tuesdays from 4-6 pm & Saturdays from 9-11 am
• DJ Laundry (2308-B SE Hawthorne Rd.): Wednesdays from 4-6 pm & Saturdays from 9-11 am
• Wash King (210 NE 16th Ave.): Wednesdays from 4-6 pm & Saturdays from 9-11 am
Volunteer Requirements:
• Individuals must be at least in the 11th grade to serve as a volunteer.
• All prospective volunteers will be required to pass a background screening prior to participating in the program. The background screening process will be administered by the United Way of North Central Florida's ReadingPals Program.
• Volunteers will be required to attend a Volunteer Training Workshop before participating in the program. The training curriculum is developed and delivered by Alachua County Librarians.
