From making sure our tortoises are healthy to managing wild habitats, the staff and volunteers at Ashton work hard every day to keep the Preserve running smoothly. It’s a job that needs to be done 365 days a year. Now, you can get a peek at the life of an Ashton crew member with an official tour of Ashton Biological Preserve.
During the tour, you will have a chance to get up-close and personal with the Ashton tortoises and our other educational animals. You’ll go on a safari tour of the Ashton protected lands and learn about the conservation work we do at the Preserve. You’ll see what makes our ecosystems so special and why upland landscapes like those at Ashton are so important to wildlife. Lucky tour-goers may even catch a glimpse of one of the amazing wild creatures that call Ashton home!
In order to ensure that our tortoises are prepared for visitors, tours must be booked at least 2 weeks in advance. For the safety of our guests, tour groups are limited to 10 people at a time.
We pride ourselves on conducting educational and outreach programs designed to get the public interested and involved in caring for Florida’s wonderful ecosystems.
