Built by the Spanish in St. Augustine to defend Florida and the Atlantic trade route, Castillo de San Marcos National Monument preserves the oldest masonry fortification in the continental United States and interprets more than 450 years of cultural intersections.
The Junior Ranger Program encourages children of all ages to participate in their visit to the Monument and is a fun way for young visitors and their families to get the most out of their visit. Booklets are available from the information desk in the Castillo's entrance.
Fourth graders and their families will be able to gain free admission, good for a year, to fee-collecting parks, public lands, and waters.
