The Sound of Music was the last musical written by the duo Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II (Oklahoma!, Carousel, The King and I, and many more). Winner of 5 Tony Awards, the Theatre World Award and OuterCritics Circle Award, including Best Musical. The musical loosely revolves around the biography of the Von Trapp family in Austria pre World War II. From how they became one of the world’s best-known concert groups in their home country, to becoming immigrants due to their oppositions with the Third Reich.
Auditions are held at The Star Center Theatre, 11 NE 23rd Ave, 32609; November 16th, 1-4 pm & 17th, 5-8 pm. Auditionees only need to attend one audition date. There will be a dance call prior to vocal auditions. No audition appointment necessary. Performances will be held at UF’s Phillips Center, January 29th at 10:30 am & 7:30 pm.
