Hoping to see sparrows species that will be arriving for the winter season, so we'll hope to spot Lincoln's Sparrow, Grasshopper Sparrow, White-crowned Sparrow, and other sparrow species. We should also see some lingering Fall migrants in addition to the ducks and shorebirds that are hanging around the (locally) famous (or infamous?) "lagoon". We will likely end up with 60+ species by the time the trip is over.
When we finish at Hague, you're invited to join us at nearby Cellon Creek Boulevard a short 7-minute drive away for follow-on birding, with the typical highlight there being the Meadowlarks residing in the open fields--although a Vermillion Flycatcher could be possible.
We'll meet up at the usual designated grassy parking area near the classroom (exact location via Google Maps: https://goo.gl/maps/dSFWvPxyw4y3hBim6) on the western side of the complex, demarcated with a sign reading "Classroom parking", right across from the painted sign that has a gator milking a cow.
As always, trip participants are asked to respect and defer to the workers and cows in an effort to maintain our amicable relationship with the dairy staff.
Difficulty: 2, but variable based on rain, some uneven terrain, potential for extreme heat and sun exposure since there are no shade trees. There are good paths throughout. Since this is an active farm, there can be strong smells in some areas.
Non-Members Are Always Welcome.
