The world famous Apollo Theater is searching for Gainesville talent. The winners will be announced at the “Summer (You)th Celebration!” on July 27. Two winners ages 5-25 will receive an all-expense-paid trip to New York City to compete on Amateur Night at the Apollo! The search is on!
Requirements:
What talents are we looking for? Singers, rappers, dancers, spoken word artist, musicians or variety acts
Age requirements: 5-25
Grand prize limited to a group of three or less
Music is not provided
Two winners ages 5-25 will receive an all-expense-paid trip to New York City to compete at Amateur Night at the Apollo!
You must be present to win. The winners will be announced on July 27, at the Summer (You)th Celebration! at Depot Park from 6 to 10 p.m.
Rules
Groups must be 3 or less
An “amateur” is considered to be anyone who does not have a recording contract with a major label or studio.
Auditions should be in good taste with no profanity, including racial epithets or slurs (this includes the “n” word).
No lip-syncing, singing along with track lead vocals, or post-production engineering of lead vocals permitted.
Prepare an audition piece up to two minutes; the producer has the discretion to stop the audition at any time.
Bring music track ready to play
Anyone 17 or under must have written parental consent to audition and to be considered for the grand prize
Anyone 17 or under must be accompanied by someone over the age of 18 at the time of audition
All participants must be present on the evening of July 27 during the the Summer (You)th Celebration! at Depot Park from 6 to 10 p.m.
