At First Presbyterian Church Gainesville, come sing and hear lessons and carols for Advent and Christmas showing the development of the loving purposes of God as seen through the windows and words of scripture. At 4:30 p.m. the Gainesville Brass Quintet and First Presbyterian Jubilate Ringers present seasonal music. This Festival is patterned on the annual Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols of King’s College, Cambridge, the backbone of which has remained virtually unchanged since it originated in England during the Victorian period. The Festival begins with the traditional processional hymn “Once in Royal David’s City” sung by treble voices joined by adult choirs, children's choirs, and congregation.
Convenient FREE parking is available in the church lot, across 2nd Avenue from the front of the church.
