Alachua Audubon Field Trip: 83rd St Bike Trails

  • When: Saturday, August 31, 2024,  8:00 am - 11:00 am
  • Location: 7401 Lake Shore Dr, Gainesville, FL 32641
  • Cost: free

Parking is available in the old Shands At Vista lot, near the intersection of NW 89th Blvd and NW 90th Blvd. Meet trip leader Eileen Ahlquist at the trail access for this walk, which is at the northwest corner of the parking lot.

Several species of vireo and warbler are likely, such as the Red-eyed Vireo and Hooded Warbler. Hopeful targets are migrating warblers and thrushes - Veery, Kentucky Warblers, and Worm-eating Warblers have been sighted in years past.

Please stay on the trail. Mosquitos are anticipated. Ticks possible. Difficulty: 2 due to mileage (approximately 3 miles round trip), some elevation change and some roots. The trail is almost entirely shaded.

Non-members are always welcome.

Here are some items to consider carrying on any field trip: binoculars (a must), water, bug spray, sunscreen, hat, sturdy shoes, rain gear for sudden downpours, notebook, camera, contact information.
