The City of Alachua is pleased to announce the first Alachua Christmas Tree Walk. This is a pilot program that we hope will become an annual tradition to enhance our December festivities. The City has purchased 20 Christmas trees, which have been placed along our beautiful downtown corridor.
The trees are six feet tall, pre-lit and available for supporters to decorate for a $50 adoption fee.
Decorating will begin the week of November 25. Please adhere to the following guidelines:
• Marketing or gift items (pens, pencils, key chains, etc.) may be placed on the tree for the purpose of people removing them; however, they must be properly secured
• Use hooks, paper clips or wire to secure the items
• Do not use heavy items, and do not bend, twist or damage tree branches to secure them
• Do not add or change lights, or make any alterations to your assigned tree (i.e. cutting, painting, tinsel, spray snow, etc.)
• Photos or paper ornaments should be laminated to withstand weather conditions
• Do not use glass or ceramic decorations that may shatter
• The City reserves the right to remove inappropriate or offensive decorations or items
Trees will be on throughout the month of December. All decorations must be removed from the tree no later than Saturday, January 4, 2025. Any decorations removed by staff after this date will be discarded.
