We The People Theater's Pop Up Theater camp is pleased to partner with the Hippodrome Theatre to provide a unique performing arts theatre camp offering teens ages 11–17 an opportunity to develop their creative voices while bringing an important piece of Florida history to life on stage. The camp will culminate in a fully staged public performance of Plumes, an original musical play exploring the life and legacy of Guy Bradley, one of the earliest wildlife conservationists in the United States.
Designed to be both accessible and artistically rigorous, the camp provides young performers with hands-on training in acting, singing, movement, costume design and ensemble performance. Participants will work collaboratively with experienced theatre educators and artists to rehearse and perform Plumes, a powerful musical that examines Bradley’s fight to protect endangered bird species at the turn of the 20th century—a story that helped spark the modern conservation movement.
Throughout the program, students will explore this theatrical creative discipline while gaining insight into how the performing arts can be used as a tool for storytelling and social impact. The camp is open to teens of all experience levels, and scholarships or reduced tuition options are available to ensure broad community participation.
The program will conclude with a public performance of Plumes, giving students the opportunity to showcase their work for family, friends, and the wider community.
