Join a ranger as we read tales about wildlife, mindfulness and environmental stewardship then a short walk on our Discovery Trail.
Description
A park ranger will read tales about wildlife, mindfulness and environmental stewardship then take everyone on a short walk on our Discovery Trail.
We will read indoors in a temperature-controlled room, then connect the main ideas from the stories we read to what we see on the trail (~0.25 mile). Our walk is on a firm but sandy trail in a sunny, exposed area. Unfortunately, this trail is difficult to traverse with a standard push stroller. It is suggested that participants on the walk take preventative measures against ticks. If the heat index is at or above 90°F, we may shorten the hike and opt to end with an activity inside.
The program is designed with preschoolers and early elementary learners in mind, but anyone who enjoys a good picture storybook is welcome to join. Family style bathrooms and disability parking are available at the Environmental Education Center where we will be meeting.
