This Sunday, July 26th, 2026, from 2-5pm, Rum 138 will host a very special Sunday Funday, a weekly live music feature that has helped to put Rum 138 on the map for locals and tourists alike.
This Sunday Rum 138 co-owner Merrillee Mallwitz-Jipson will celebrate her birthday as well as those many local water lovers with birthday cake for all. The event is also a public kickoff of the campaign headquarters at Rum 138 for her run as candidate for Florida House District 10. Merrillee will be onsite to answer questions and listen to voters’ concerns.
In the Moment, Rum 138’s original house band, will take the stage at 2pm playing “Jamerican” versions of favorites, plus their popular original music. Deeply connected to the Santa Fe River community, the band shares a true love for the river and has proudly hosted and performed at festivals and events since venues first opened their doors. In the Moment holds a special place in local history as the very first band to grace the Rum 138 stage, helping kick off live music there and building lasting ties along the river; a staple in the High Springs and Gainesville scene, they deliver high-energy performances ideal for fun, dancing, and romancing under the Florida sun.
Fronted by the naturally gifted Jamaican singer-songwriter Chris Newman, whose rhythm guitar and soulful vocals set the tone. The lineup shines with Angela Grace on captivating flute, Jeff Fuller (aka Monkey Man) laying down seasoned, professional drums, John Dermont, a master of music on lead guitar, guitar legend Missi Peterson, and the impeccably smooth bass lines of Linda Dixon.
Eddys Patty food truck will be on site grilling burgers, hot dogs and chicken to order and now also serves fresh fruit and vegetable salads. The Rum 138 Bar will be open with Sanna and Daisy serving wine, beer, signature strawberry wine slushies, pina coladas and Premium Blend (TM) mixed drinks as well as select NUTRL vodka seltzers and delicious ACE ciders.
Rum 138 offers rentals and sales of kayaks, canoes and SUPs and features the Springs Art Gallery and the only ongoing exhibit of John Moran Photography.
