With the wide variety of tasks and possibilities of what needs to be done, there tends not to be a "typical" day, which is what makes it interesting. But common job responsibilities include:
-Serving citizen inquiries
-Construction permit review for FEMA, NFIP, State, and local floodplain requirements
-Coordinating with local, state, federal and other jurisdictions concerning floodplain and flood zone subject matter
-Performing outreach and public events to educate on flood risk, requirements, and environmental function of floodplains
-Review engineering flood studies and be familiar with hydrology
