The 36th Annual Ocklawaha River Raid Civil War Re-enactment and Living History Weekend is almost here. This long-running re-enactment event commemorates the March 1865 raid and skirmish along the Ocklawaha River east of Ocala that was the only battle of the war to occur in Marion County, Florida. Soldier and civilian re-enactors of all ages will gather for this outdoor event on October 31 and November 1, 2020 in the fine setting of the 500 acre Florida Horse Park, setting up authentic military camps and civilian homestead. Wander the camps and converse with these re-enactors, many of whom are well versed and knowledgeable about the time period and roles they portray. The rolling fields and woods of this site are largely free of modern items in some areas, offering a feel of stepping back to a bygone day. A host of historical displays and demonstrations, History Center chronicling Florida's role in the war, display of historic Florida flags, children's activities, period music performances, and more will fill the weekend's schedule.

The grounds open at 9:00 AM each day. Battle re-enactments with infantry, artillery, and cavalry units take place each day at 2:00 PM, with the large viewing area allowing plenty of room for those wishing to social distance.

Come one and all to enjoy this step back in time and see this part of Florida and American history come vividly to life.
