Florida Museum of Natural History: Early Bird Gets the Band with the UF Bird Observatory

Join us and the UF Bird Observatory at Prairie Creek Conservation Cemetery to learn about all the fascinating work that goes into protecting our feathered friends!

See live fieldwork with Museum curator of ornithology Glaucia Del-Rio and the UF Bird Observatory’s Charlie Muise including real demonstrations of bird capturing, data collection and bird banding! Witness wild birds up-close, learn about their migration patterns and learn how to identify them. Whether you’re a seasoned birdwatcher or just interested in birding with fellow nature-lovers, this promises to be an unforgettable experience.

We will be meeting at Prairie Creek Conservation Cemetery and the facility does not have restrooms or seating, attendees are welcome to bring their own chairs.

Wear appropriate footwear and clothes that can get dirty or wet. For more information on parking, visit their website.

While the event ends at 10 a.m., fieldwork will continue and attendees are welcome to stay and chat with the researchers.
