Building Strong Readers Together: Supporting Reading Comprehension in Children with ASD (Preschool–Elementary)

Children with ASD often demonstrate strong word-reading skills while experiencing difficulty with understanding, inferencing, and making meaning from text. This practical, collaborative training brings parents and school professionals together to build consistent, research-informed approaches to strengthening listening and reading comprehension.

Training Objectives:
• Describe specific cognitive and language factors that contribute to comprehension challenges in children with AS
• Implement practical, evidence-based strategies to improve listening and reading comprehension across preschool and elementary setting
• Develop a coordinated home–school action plan to reinforce comprehension skills consistently across environments
