
Join Ben Fick at Bolen Bluff! Bolen Bluff is a mix of forest and grassland at the south side of Paynes Prairie State Park.
Meeting Point: parking lot
Trail Conditions: ~2 miles. Trail is shaded with some exposed roots. Bugs/mosquitoes likely. There is a bench to rest at the halfway point (overlook). No restroom. Shorter walk option: turnaround near the ravine.
What to Expect:
We will walk the entire woodland loop through Oak Hammock. The midpoint is a grassy bluff with views of marsh, prairie, and Alachua Lake. We'll be looking for migrant warblers, cuckoos, and grosbeaks. Cerulean Warbler, Chestnut-sided, and Blue-winged Warbler are all possibilities in addition to Yellow Warbler and American Redstarts.
