  • Location: Palm Point Park, 7401 Lake Shore Dr, Gainesville, FL 32641
  • Cost: Free

Join the Flock at Palm Point Park! Palm Point is a wooded peninsula along the shore of Newnan’s Lake and a great spot to look for fall migrants.

Meeting Point: Trailhead at parking lot of Palm Point Park at 7401 Lake Shore Dr.

Trail Conditions: one mile or less of mostly shade, walking along mulched trail at Palm Point and along grass/boardwalk at Powers Park. Restrooms available at Powers Park.

Parking: Park in the small lot or if full, you can park off the shoulder of Lakeshore Drive. Large parking lot at Powers Park. No fee.

What to Expect:
We'll explore the looped trail and Lake Shore Dr for migrant warblers, flycatchers, and other songbirds in the live oaks, sweetgums, sugarberry, and cypress trees. We’ll also scan the lake for migrating Black Terns, swallows, and any possible lingering storm birds.

Depending on our success/bird activity at Palm Point, we may continue on to nearby Earl P Powers Park (5910 SE Hawthorne Rd) to bird along the canal and pier at the south end of the lake.

What to Bring
- Water, sunglasses or a hat, and sunscreen
- Bug spray
- Sneakers or hiking shoes
- Binoculars or camera

What is the Flock?
The Flock is Alachua Audubon's birding group for women who enjoy exploring the outdoors with a welcoming and safe community. Although the group is reserved for women, we encourage our members to bring guests (of any gender) who share a love of nature to all of our events!

Birders of all ability levels and non-members are welcome.
