JBF Safe KIDS' Day

We are excited to announce the return of JBF's Safe KIDS Day!! Our next event will be hosted on Saturday, April 27, 2024 from 9 am to 1 pm at Legacy Multipurpose Center in the City of Alachua.

JBF has had the honor of hosting many of our area's non-profits, safety experts and medical providers with the goal of connecting them to the families who need their services the most. The relationships that have been a direct result of Safe KIDS Day, not only between families but between agencies as well, have been more than we could have ever expected. We are so thankful to have the opportunity to do it again!

Safe KIDS Day is a free community event hosted by Just Between Friends Gainesville whose goal is to connect families with safety, well being, and early intervention experts. Not only do caretakers have the opportunity to learn about water safety, medication storage/disposal, safe play practices and car seat safety, but during our past events families have had access to free hands on CPR tutorials, DNA identification kits including fingerprinting by Alachua PD, and access to Fire Safety tips by Engine 21. Safe KIDS Day has expanded to include even more early intervention organizations that will assist families in finding child care, VPK, ESE services, and resources on where their child can obtain evaluations/screenings, whether they be medical or educational. We also have medical experts on site that can assist families with seeking providers, mental health resources and can answer first aid and triage questions. The event is not only informative, but fun as well!

The list of organizations tabling keeps growing and we are so excited to see the connections families will make with these amazing local resources. We are also pleased to announce that we will once again be holding a special sensory hour from 9am to 10am for our attendees with noise sensitivities. We hosted over 400 families during our Fall event and are excited to see how many families we will be able to serve during this Spring event. Arrival time for participants to set up will be 8:00am. Breakfast and Lunch will be provided.
