Opened in 2021, the World Equestrian Center is the largest equestrian complex in the United States. Of special interest to us birders are the notable shorebirds and open-country bird species that are often found at various retention ponds and ephemeral shorebird habitats that appear and disappear based on rain levels and other weather patterns. We’ll hope to see recent rarities like Wilson’s Phalarope and Stilt Sandpipers.

Trip participants are reminded to follow local guidelines/rules by only parking in designated parking areas (NOT on grass or other unpaved areas) while visiting the complex.

Difficulty: 1–we’ll mostly drive around to the various retention ponds around the complex. A little walking on paved/even surfaces from parking to ponds.

Non-members are always welcome.
Here are some items to consider carrying on any field trip: binoculars (a must), water, bug spray, sunscreen, hat, sturdy shoes, rain gear for sudden downpours, notebook, camera, contact information.
