SUMMARY:Gainesville Community Playhouse Auditions: Disney’s Frozen-The Broadway Musical
LOCATION:4039 NW 16th Blvd, Gainesville, FL 32605
DESCRIPTION;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:Book by Jennifer Lee\nMusic & Lyrics by Kristen Anderson-Lopez & Robert Lop
 ez\nDirected by Rhonda Wilson\nAuditions: September 20 & 21 at GCP\nCallbac
ks if needed - Tuesday, September 22\n16-32 bars of a song that shows your
range and in the style of the show. Please bring sheet music and NO FROZEN
songs please! You may be asked during callbacks to sing from the stage musi
cal.\n\nTHIS ISN’T JUST A SHOW FOR KIDS.\nWhile FROZEN carries all the magi
c audiences expect from Disney, the Broadway musical is a large theatrical
production driven primarily by adult performers. At its heart is a sophisti
cated story about family, fear, isolation, responsibility, grief, sacrifice
, love, and finding the courage to become who you were meant to be.\nWe are
especially seeking strong ADULT actors, singers, dancers, and character pe
rformers.\nPlease note: This is not being cast as a children's production.
Youth performers are an important part of the story, but the Broadway music
al requires a substantial adult company.\nIf you are an adult performer who
has been wondering whether FROZEN has a place for you, the answer is YES!\
n\nTHE STORY\nBased on the Academy Award-winning animated film, the Broadwa
y production of FROZEN expands the beloved story with additional music, dee
per character development, powerful ensemble storytelling, and theatrical s
pectacle.\nTwo sisters are separated by fear and reunited through love. Els
a struggles with a power she cannot fully control and the responsibility th
at comes with it. Anna refuses to give up on the sister she loves. Around t
hem is a world of royalty, townspeople, hidden folk, comic characters, dang
er, and extraordinary theatrical magic.\nThis production requires performer
s who can bring truth and emotional maturity to the story while embracing t
he joy, humor, movement, and spectacle of Disney.\n\nCASTING (ages may vary
depending on available actors)\nELSA — Adult Female\nA commanding leading
role requiring a powerful contemporary musical-theatre voice and exceptiona
l acting ability. Elsa's journey moves through fear, repression, isolation,
freedom, guilt, and ultimately acceptance. Requires emotional depth and st
rong stage presence.\nVocal demand: Very strong belt/mix with upper registe
r.\nANNA — Adult Female\nWarm, funny, impulsive, courageous, and emotionall
y open. Anna carries much of the heart and comedy of the production. Requir
es an excellent actress with strong comic instincts, vulnerability, stamina
 , and a strong contemporary musical-theatre voice.\nKRISTOFF — Adult Male\n
A rugged, independent ice harvester who gradually reveals tremendous warmth
and vulnerability. Requires strong acting, likability, comic timing, movem
ent ability, and a solid singing voice.\nHANS — Adult Male\nCharming, polis
hed, intelligent, and seemingly everything a prince should be. Requires an
actor capable of playing sincerity, romance, humor, and the character's mor
e complicated layers.\nOLAF — Adult or Older Teen, Any Gender\nOne of the s
how's great character roles. Funny, innocent, optimistic, and unexpectedly
touching. We are looking for a strong character actor with excellent comic
timing, physicality, personality, and vocal ability—not simply someone who
can\nimitate the animated character.\nSVEN — Adult or Older Teen\nA highly
physical storytelling role requiring excellent movement, characterization,
stamina, and comic instincts. Dance, movement, acrobatic, or physical-theat
re experience is especially welcome.\nWESELTON — Adult Male\nA featured com
ic character role. Requires a confident actor with excellent comic timing,
physicality, and the ability to create a memorable character.\nOAKEN — Adul
t, Any Gender\nA wonderfully eccentric featured character role. Strong comi
c instincts, personality, and willingness to make bold theatrical choices a
re essential.\nPABBIE & BULDA — Adults\nLeaders within the Hidden Folk comm
unity. Warm, mystical, grounded, and commanding. These performers help esta
blish the deeper spiritual and emotional world of the production. Strong si
ngers and movers are desired.\nKING AGNARR & QUEEN IDUNA — Adults\nThe pare
nts of Anna and Elsa. Though their stage time is concentrated early in the
story, their choices have enormous emotional consequences. We are looking f
or mature actors capable of establishing a believable family and emotional
 stakes quickly.\nBISHOP / STEWARD / FEATURED ADULT ROLES\nAdult character p
erformers are needed for several featured roles throughout the production.
Some may double with ensemble tracks.\n\nADULT ENSEMBLE\nWe need a strong c
ompany of adult singers, dancers, actors, and movers to create the world of
  Arendelle.\nAdult ensemble members may portray:\nArendelle townspeople • c
astle staff • dignitaries • guards • Hidden Folk • coronation guests • Oake
n's family • featured dancers • specialty characters • additional featured
roles\nThere are opportunities for both strong dancers and strong singers/a
ctors who move well.\nAdults of a wide range of ages, types, backgrounds, a
nd experience levels are encouraged to audition.\n\nYOUTH ROLES\nYOUNG ELSA
\nYouth female performer with strong acting and singing ability. Must be ab
le to portray Elsa's early joy as well as the fear and emotional weight tha
t changes her relationship with Anna.\nYOUNG ANNA\nYouth female performer w
ith strong vocals, personality, comic instincts, and natural stage presence
. Must create a believable sister relationship with Young Elsa.\n\nSELECT Y
OUTH ENSEMBLE\nA limited number of children may be cast in featured ensembl
 e moments where appropriate.\n\nWHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR\nWe encourage perfor
mers to audition even if they do not see themselves as a traditional "Disne
y type."\nWe are looking for storytellers first; performers who can sing, a
ct, move, take direction, work collaboratively, and bring honesty to the ma
terial.\nStrong adult performers are especially encouraged to attend.\n\nFR
OZEN needs:\nPowerhouse vocalists. Strong actors. Dancers and movers. Chara
cter actors. Comedic performers. Mature storytellers. Physical performers.
And a small group of exceptional young actors.\n\nBeneath the snow, spectac
le, and familiar songs is a remarkably human story about what happens when
fear separates us and how love gives us the courage to reconnect.\n\nCome h
elp Gainesville Community Playhouse bring Arendelle to life.
