 ommemorate the 162nd anniversary of the Civil War and host the 49th Annual 
 Reenactment of the Battle of Olustee. Hear the cannons fire, smell the blac
 k powder, taste hard tack, watch battlefield surgeons perform their skills,
  listen for the thundering hoofbeats of the Calvary, the muffled drums, and
  the pounding of boots, learn about the battle through the voices of reenac
 tors portraying their ancestors. Throughout the weekend, more than 1,000 de
 monstrators will present living history impressions of military and civilia
 n life at the time of Florida's largest Civil War battle.<br /><br />The li
 ving history weekend features a Civil War-era battle reenactment on Saturda
 y, as well as the reenactment of the Battle of Olustee on Sunday. Period mu
 sic concerts and crafts, lectures, battlefield surgical practices and the l
 ives of both white and black civilians during the war will be portrayed by 
 re-enactors. Military camps and drills by infantry and artillery are schedu
 led throughout the weekend. Color ceremonies, Cavalry, Authentic camps, exh
 ibits, food and much more.<br /><br />Friday is filled with educational pro
 grams and demonstrations for students of all ages.<br /><br />On Saturday, 
 demonstrations and programs will begin with a Medical Demonstration, and th
 e Voices of Pride Reenactors will present a series of programs under the Ba
 ll Tent. Including presentations on Frederick Douglass and The Service of P
 eople of Color Served in the Civil War.<br /><br />The Olustee Battle Civil
  War Reenactment is sponsored by the Florida Park Service, U.S.D.A. Forest 
 Service, Olustee Battlefield Citizen Support Organization and The Baker Cou
 nty Tourist Development Council, and the Blue Grey Army of Florida, Inc.
