SUMMARY:Florida Museum of Natural History Science Surprises: Engineering Scientist Tools Series
LOCATION:see description for exact locations
DESCRIPTION;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:The Florida Museum of Natural History presents Science Surprises: Engineeri
ng Scientist Tools. Participants will learn about the tools Scientists to w
hile exploring natural phenomenon.\n\nThe Florida Museum of Natural History
presents Science Surprises: Engineering Scientist Tools. In this program,
participants will learn the sorts of tools scientists use to make observati
ons and measurements. Attendees will become better observers and problem so
lvers while also learning to use their creativity and communication skills.
\n\nThis series will explore the following topics.\n\nAug. 7, Topic 1: Make
a Pooter – Create your own bug collecting device! Learn why scientists inv
ented this tool and how they use it. \n\nAug. 14, Topic 2: Make a Flashligh
t – Create your own flashlight and learn how they work and how scientists u
se them.\n\nAug. 21, Topic 3: Make an Anemometer – Create your own device t
o measure wind speed! Learn how this contraption works and how scientists u
se this tool.\n\nAug. 28, Topic 4: Make a Snake Catcher – In this activity
you get to invent a device to solve a problem: how can I catch a snake with
out touching it? (Disclaimer: real snakes are not used or encouraged to be
captured during this program)\n\n10:30 am-11:30 am at the Waldo Branch\n3:0
