SUMMARY:Working Food Nature’s Palette: Making Inks and Paints from Local Plants
LOCATION:219 NW 10th Ave Gainesville, FL 32601
DESCRIPTION;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:Discover the vibrant world of natural pigments in this hands-on workshop, p
erfect for anyone curious about plants, art, or exploring new ways to conne
ct with nature. Learn about the plants and other materials all around us li
ke kitchen scraps, garden flowers and veggies, native plants, and roadside
weeds that produce stunning dyes, inks, and paints. \n\nDuring the workshop
, you’ll practice making ink and watercolor paint, and there will be plenty
of time to create your own art using these rich, natural colors. This expe
rience is open to everyone—whether you’re a seasoned artist, a plant enthus
iast, or just eager to try something new. No prior skills or knowledge are
required. All supplies are provided, but feel free to bring your own sketch
book or favorite paint brushes if you’d like. You’ll leave with a detailed
instructional handout, small samples of the inks and paints you create, and
the artwork you’ve made.\n\nThe workshop is led by Melissa DeSa, Working F
ood’s Seed Program Director and an artist who specializes in creating natur
al pigments from locally sourced plants and materials found, foraged, and g
rown. All ticket proceeds are donations that directly support Working Food.
X-EXTRAINFO:Kids are welcome! If a parent wants to bring their child to participate wit
h their own seat and materials then it would be a full ticket price. If the
y want their kid to come with them but they only get one set of materials t
o share (ex: parent guiding kid) then we can charge them 1 ticket price.
