Meet trip leader Kristen Suggs in the parking lot. Preserved by Alachua County's Forever Program, 376 acres of diverse ecosystems - basin swamp, depression marsh, upland hardwood and bottomland forest, hydric hammock, black water streams, and sinkholes - make Turkey Creek a must see during fall migration. Thrushes, tanagers, and warblers anticipated. Ruby-crowned Kinglets may also be returning and if we're lucky, Rose-breasted Grosbeak.
Difficulty: 2/3, two miles of mostly wide and relatively flat trails.
Non-members are always welcome.
Here are some items to consider carrying on any field trip: binoculars (a must), water, bug spray, sunscreen, hat, sturdy shoes, rain gear for sudden downpours, notebook, camera, contact information.
