Summer Gator Fire Games hosted by Alachua County Fire Rescue

This weekend, Alachua County Fire Rescue is hosting the Summer Gator Fire Games in Gainesville. The event will take place at the Hilton University of Florida Conference Center on July 29-30. Opening ceremonies with a fire sprinkler demonstration to follow starting at 7:00 pm on July 29th. Competition to begin at 8:30 am on July 30th.

Ten different fire departments across the state will be bringing their cadets to compete in the games, with a total of 17 teams participating. ACFR will have three teams competing, with each team comprising of four cadets.

Cadets will compete in a variety of events including a victim rescue drill, an EMS relay, a fire relay and other fast-paced challenges. These events will take place on Saturday, where an awards ceremony will be held afterward.

Everyone is welcome to attend the games and watch the events free of cost. Fire Operations Chief Michael Cowart stated "Come out to support and cheer on our young cadets representing our department and our community!"
