UF GatorTRAX

  • When: Saturday, April 10, 2021, 10:00 am - 11:30 am
  • Location: online
  • Cost: Free

A free K-12 math and engineering outreach program that is run through the combined efforts of student volunteers from the engineering honor society Tau Beta Pi and the University of Florida's College of Engineering.

GatorTRAX is designed to complement education received in Alachua County public schools. Our fun and educational activity modules are designed to suit the needs and abilities of various age groups. Encouraging both innovation and teamwork, these modules range from activities reinforcing classroom math concepts, to hands-on activities demonstrating core engineering principles.

We require only that parents fill out the one-time permission form and bring their students to the Saturday sessions on our calendar. We take care of the rest! There is no need to RSVP beforehand and there is currently no limit on the number of students that may attend.

All sessions will be held over zoom. Each zoom link is provided on the child registration form ('Register Your Child Here'), and will be sent out to those who sign up. Additionally, the password for each zoom link will also be emailed out to those who sign up (for protection),and information on packet pick-up (also on the registration form) will also be provided in the email.

Each event will have ~20-minute presentation on an engineering topic and a hands-on activity (~45 minutes) involving a kit that will be picked up. We will be holding package pick-ups the Thursday and Friday from 5:00 PM- 7:00 PM before each Saturday Event, on the UF Campus. We will have a table set up in the Commuter Lot on Gale Lemerand Drive (next to the new parking garage, see the figure on the location tab). The package will have all the supplies needed for the Saturday activity and a sheet with information on how the activity works.
