Gainesville Riding through Equine-Assisted Activities and Therapy! (GREAAT!) is a not-for-profit organization established in October of 2010. Employees and volunteers provide developmental, therapeutic, and educational equine-oriented activities and therapy to individuals with special needs.
GREAAT! currently offers therapeutic riding (or adaptive riding). Therapeutic riding is an equine-assisted activity that teaches riding skills to enhance physical, cognitive, emotional and social well-being for individuals with special needs. It also includes what is called, unmounted activities—teaching individuals how to interact with the horse and the equine environment, including safety, grooming, leading, and stall and barn related activities. Future plans include the addition of remedial vaulting and driving. Currently, GREAAT! offers physical therapy, with the goal of adding occupational and speech therapy services.
