Hogtown Creek Headwaters Nature Park & Nature Center

Hogtown Creek Headwaters NP nature trail

From former pinelands and majestic upland mixed forest to shady fern-covered wetlands where water slowly seeps from the ground to form the beginnings of Hogtown Creek, this 82 acre park protects a variety of natural habitats. The park was purchased with funds from the Florida Communities Trust and with a generous donation from Home Depot. A 0.5 mile loop nature trail, playground, picnic pavilion, and fitness loop, provide options for both nature-based and active recreation.

Nature Center Information

The Hogtown Creek Headwaters Nature Center contains 180 square feet of exhibit space that visitors can view during regular center hours.  Groups larger than 15 will need to take turns viewing the exhibit.  When visitors walk through the front door, they are greeted by Hogtown Creek who introduces herself.  Then throughout the exhibit visitors learn about Gainesville’s creeks and watershed, natural and cultural history, and flora and fauna of the area.

“Perspectives in the Park” is typically offered on the first Sunday of every month.  This schedule may vary.  This program is geared more towards an adult audience and will feature experts in their field sharing information on a wide variety of topics including science, nature, history, and art.

Please call the nature center during regularly scheduled hours for more information, 352-451-4908.
