Dr. Christina Jade Monford-McNish, born and raised in Jacksonville, Florida. As a vagrant child, she moved between living with her mother, who was addicted to drugs and alcohol and anyone that would take her in. The backbone of Dr. Monford's childhood was void of positive role models, guidance or encouragement. She was victimized, abused, robbed, yet her spirit was never broken. She had always believed that her purpose in life was greater than her circumstances and she remained dedicated to reaching her goal of one day becoming a dentist. She attended a total of four different elementary schools, Northwestern Middle School then graduated at the top of her class from William Marion Raines High School in 2002. Dr. Monford was offered a full scholarship to attend Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University (FAMU). There she majored in Mathematical Science and volunteered in the math tutoring lab for 3 consecutive years. During the fall 2003 she became a member of the Beta Alpha Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and organized many projects and programs for the local community of Tallahassee, Florida. She was also involved in research projects that were both math and science related and traveled to present the various topics. After receiving her Bachelor’s degree from FAMU, Dr. Monford gave birth to her son and moved back to Jacksonville to become a ninth grade Algebra teacher at her high school alma mater, William Marion Raines High School. It was then that she remembered how she dreamt of becoming a dentist when she was a student there. After completing her first year of teaching, Dr. Monford decided to go back to school in Tallahassee to take the required courses to apply for dental school, which was a total of 2 more years. With a 2 year old son, she worked two jobs as an adjunct math professor at Tallahassee Community College and a tutor in the math lab and went to school full-time. Fall 2009 Dr. Monford was accepted into the University of Florida College of Dentistry’s program; which was a four program. (I know that was a lot of school…a total of 10 years) Currently, Dr. Monford and her family reside here in Jacksonville, Florida where she practices as a general dentist in the town center area. She is currently a member of the National Dental Association and Florida Dental Association.
