Good News Arts is pleased to open registration for our Summer Arts Camp!

The Good News Arts Summer Arts Camp provides arts education, including painting, drawing, writing, sculpture, photography, and more, for campers from Kindergarten through 8th grade. Our camp also includes physical and enrichment activities and seeks to give our campers an engaging summer experience playing, learning, and creating. Breakfast, lunch, and two snacks are provided to all campers as well as all arts materials. All campers will receive a camp T-shirt.

Good News Arts Summer Arts Camp is staffed by practicing artists and educators trained to work in this capacity and screened especially for childcare. Camper groups will never exceed 15 students per group and feature one lead artist and at least one assisting artist. To register your campers for Good News Arts please fill out the camp registration form and return it by email to summercamp@goodnewsarts.com or in person to Good News Arts at 18555 High Springs Main Street, High Springs, FL 32643 or the Legacy Park Recreation Center at 15400 Peggy Rd, Alachua, FL 32615.

 

REGISTRATION IS NOT CONFIRMED UNTIL GOOD NEWS ARTS CONTACTS YOU REGARDING YOUR CAMPER(S) SPOTS. No payment is required until Good News Arts confirms camper registration.

CAMP DETAILS AND INFORMATION

 Schedule:

Summer Arts Camp 2024 will run in two three-week sessions:

Session 1 – June 10th through June 28th

Session 2 – July 8th through July 26th

 Campers may apply for as many weeks as they wish to attend but may not receive spots for every request based on capacity.

 Daily Schedule:

8am-9am – Camp Drop Off

9am-9:30am - Breakfast

9:30am-11:30am – First half of camp day

11:30am-12pm – Lunch

12pm-3:30pm – Second half of camp day

3:30pm-5pm – Camp Pick Up

 Unless arrangements are made in advance with the Good News Arts staff campers SHOULD NOT be dropped off at camp locations before 8am and SHOULD NOT be picked up after 5pm

 Field Trips:

Weekly field trips will be a part of our camp experience. Field trips will include The Harn Art Museum, The Natural History Museum, Poe Springs State Park, The Cade Museum, and other locations TBD (possibly the movies, the arcade, and/or bowling)

The High Springs camp location will take field trips every Thursday of camp.

Cost:

There is a $20 registration fee per child for Summer Arts Camp. This fee should be paid once Good News Arts confirms camper registration. This fee can be waived for families who are members of Good News Arts or with arrangements between families and Good News Arts.

The Children’s Trust of Alachua County provides scholarships for campers who meet one or more of the following qualifications, for these campers Summer Arts Camp is free – please identify if your camper or family meets one or more of these qualifications in your registration form:

  • Family below 200% of 2024 federal poverty guidelines

  • Family between 200% - 400% of 2024 federal poverty guidelines

  • Family receiving SNAP benefits

  • Child has an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) and/or 504 Plan and Family between 200% - 400% of 2024 federal poverty guidelines

  • Child is in foster care, voluntary formal kinship care, or under case management supervision

For campers and families who do not meet one or more of the above qualifications for scholarships the cost of the Summer Arts Camp in 2024 is $100 per camper per week. This fee should be paid once Good News Arts confirms camper registration. If your family cannot pay this cost, then please reach out to Good News Arts to discuss options.
