-Antarctic Dinosaurs Exhibit On Display: October 7, 2023-April 21, 2024
Step back in time and discover the life beneath the ice in Antarctic Dinosaurs. Today, Antarctica is a forbidding land of snow and ice but 200 million years ago it was a lush, wooded habitat where dinosaurs thrived. Uncover the history of the world’s southernmost continent and the unique species that have called it home in this interactive, family-friendly experience!

Antarctic Dinosaurs logo Rare fossils, touchable casts and interactive models bring the past to life while showcasing Antarctica’s distinctive dinosaur species. Examine a reconstructed forest and encounter the early plants and animals that flourished in the once-green environment. Experience the extraordinary work that goes into digging for fossils with real equipment and a recreated quarry. Learn about the important research taking place in this frigid landscape and how it informs future changes to the world’s climate.

-Black in Natural History Museums Scavenger Hunt (Free Admission)
Take part in a scavenger hunt and learn about the sacrifice, knowledge and labor of Black people involved in natural history museums. Seventeen profiles located around the museum showcase the contributions of Black researchers, exhibit designers and curators over 300 years across eight fields of study. Each profile is located near an exhibit relating to their field of study. This gallery also highlights the history and formation of the Black in Natural History Museums organization that was established in 2021.

-Colorful Dancing Spiders (Free Admission)
Get your Spidey senses tingling! Discover the vibrant world of spiders and the innovative research being done at the University of Florida to learn more about the arachnids’ surprisingly good vision. High-resolution images showcase tiny jumping spiders in all their colorful splendor, and some of these species are smaller than a Q-tip! Come see the distinctive dances these tiny creatures do to find a mate. Display cases highlight some of the tools and experiments scientists use to uncover the spiders’ mating and feeding habits, including unique tests involving makeup, paints and toothpicks. Learn more about these underappreciated animals with videos of professor Lisa Taylor from the Taylor Lab, including one from the show “Life In Color with David Attenborough” that is narrated by the renowned biologist and presenter.
