La Selva Art Studios is looking for young artists to join our 2023-2024 after-school program.

Art & Nature Group (Tuesdays)
September 5th - May 21st / 33 weeks / 3:00-5:15 pm / Grades 2nd-8th
In this series from September through May, students experience how making art & being in nature can inspire each other. We will be using sketchbook practices while we visit Gainesville nature parks. This is a great after-school option for kids that like to move around in nature as we will be exploring hiking trails and parks. (An example week might look like one Tuesday at Sweetwater Wetlands with sketchbooks and the following Tuesday in the studio painting from our sketchbook ideas.)


Infinite Wednesdays (Wednesdays)
September 6th - May 22nd / 34 weeks / 2:00-5:15 pm / Grades 6th-8th
Infinite Wednesday is an after-school series from September through May. The students explore fine art techniques like painting, drawing, photography, and printmaking. We will set up still lives and paint from them as well as design/print our own t-shirts. This is a great after-school option for kids that like to learn new art skills and enjoy project-based activities. (An example week might look like one month focused on setting up a still-life, drawing/sketching, and painting it on canvas. The next month might look like us visiting local artists' studios and learning what and how they do what they love.)

Media+Design Group (Thursdays)
September 7th - May 23rd / 33 weeks / 3:00-5:15 pm / Grades 2nd-8th
In this series from September through May, Students learn to design, create, and produce a movie with characters made from scratch (through collaboration). Each week we are building on previous ideas and slowly create a vibrant world of characters, scenes, and one-of-a-kind script. At the end of the year, we organize an art show and present our movie!
