The 34th Annual Ocklawaha River Raid Civil War Re-enactment and Living History Weekend is rapidly drawing near on November 3 and 4, 2018. This commemorates the March 1865 Union Army raid on plantations east of Ocala and the resulting skirmish with local Southern troops along the Ocklawaha River; this was the only battle of the war to occur in Marion County.. The host re-enactment unit is pleased to announce that the event is again being held at the Florida Horse Park, 11008 S. Highway 475, Ocala, Florida. This fine setting provides locations for the authentic camps and battlefield that are largely free of modern day items. The weekend includes hundreds of re-enactors from all across Florida, Union, Confederate, and civilian encampments,1860s period music, numerous displays and demonstrations, and two battle re-enactments with infantry, cavalry, and artillery units. All are invited to join us as we step back to a bygone day and see this part of our rich Florida and American history brought vividly to life.
