M.A.P. is an innovative project dedicated to enhancing the quality of life and teaching leadership skills to youth. Research shows the best way to develop leadership skills is by combining theory, practice, application, and concepts with behavior. M.A.P.’s innovative program is linked to music and arts literacy and uses kinesthetic, aural, and visual learning strategies from everyday life in a music performance-based classroom setting. Children become creative with language and increase music and literacy skills, while engaging in interactive classroom lessons and community projects. The knowledge gained in this program will greatly impact new generations of future leaders and increases the opportunity for them to flourish in society. The program educates children in the fundamentals of music and art while helping develop positive character, values, and leadership skills. Currently, M.A.P. offers the following classes: beginning piano, intermediate piano, ear training, music improvisation, introduction to recording, introduction to drawing, color theory, painting for the beginner, and character education, which includes creative writing and songwriting techniques. Enrichment activities include community performances, community services, and educational field trips. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.
