PokémonGO App is the newest version of the classic Pokémon (pocket monster) game. You capture monsters as a trainer and then fight other trainers and their monsters.
PokémonGO takes this and brings it to the real world...mostly. The app game uses your GPS location to show you the game map and when you walk so does your character! When you come across a Pokémon your game can switch to your device's camera to layer the Pokémon on top of your surroundings (this is called augmented reality).
How do you capture Pokémon? With a pokéball! It's red and white and shows up on your screen.
Where do you get them? Walking around and close to pokéstops.
What's the difference between a pokéstop and a gym? Pokéstops are where you can get items/treats and gyms are where you train your Pokémon (you must be a level 5 to enter).
What are the libraries? Most locations are PokéStops! Visit each day to pick up more items and discover new Pokémon in the area. Library Partnership is a gym! Visit them to battle other trainers who are level 5 and higher with the Pokémon you've caught.
I thought there was a card game and tv show having to do with Pokémon? There are! We have a card game league at Millhopper Library and you can read graphic novels or watch the show by checking them out at the library!
