While family-friendly events fill the calendar year-round in Gainesville, Springtime overflows with so many amazing festivals! To make sure you don't miss any of the fun events just around the corner, here is a list of ALL the upcoming Spring Festivals and Events!
Hippety Hoppin' Easter Bunny Hop - This fun event starts at Buddy Creations (near the mall play area) at 5:30 pmon March 18! To begin the event, the children will make Easter baskets, followed by a scavenger hunt through the mall for treats! The event will end at the Chick-fil-A with a craft and visit from the cow!
Eggolution - This new FREE event takes place on the UF Norman Field March 19. In addition to a HUGE egg hunt, there will be a petting zoo, inflatables, prizes and more!
Glow in the Dark Egg Hunt -This unique egg hunt takes place at Shift Church on March 20 at 9:15 am! Kids will get to exchange their eggs for goody bags once the hunt is over!
Suwannee Springfest - The 20th annual Suwannee Springfest is four full days (March 17-20) of music and family-style fellowship, with a taste of Bluegrass and Americana!
Florida Springsfest - This weekend-long event has something for everyone! You can take a guided float with one of their springs experts and/or explore the boardwalk, which will be filled with vendors, plus animal demos, music, snake programs and more!
Family Day at the Farm - This event is a MUST! From 9 am to 2 pm on March 19, families have the chance to explore the UF Dairy Farm, watch cows being milked, tour barn facilities, pet calves, make butter and more!
MacDill Airfest - While it's a bit of a drive, the MacDill Airfest is a FREE amazing event! Running March 19-20, 9 am to 5 pm, guests can explore military aircraft up close, and can see military demonstrations, including the U.S. Airforce Thunderbirds!
Kanapaha Botanical Spring Garden Festival - In addition to admiring all of the beautiful plants and scenery, this event will have a CHILDREN'S AREA that includes potting a plant to take home, a photo opportunity, a bean bag toss, many arts and crafts (tissue paper butterfly, newspaper hats, and coke bottle flowers) - all for one admission price. Visit the Festival March 19 from 9 am to 5 pm or March 20 from 10 am to 5 pm.
March 26 is the BIGGEST DAY for EGG HUNTS across Alachua County! To see a complete list of all the hunts, visit the Fun4GatorKids website!
Gainesville Holistic Health Fair - On March 26, 10 am to 5 pm, families can learn about healthy food, child-friendly practitioners and vaccine safety.
ReptiDay - See live animals from around the world, learn from experts, and even purchase pets and pet supplies on March 26, 10 am to 5 pm.
Antique Tractor & Engine Show at Stephen Foster Folk Culture Center - From April 3-5, antique tractors and farming equipment reflecting 200 years of rural American history will be on display! There will also be exciting games, races, demonstrations and even a tractor parade!
Santa Fe College Spring Arts Festival - This weekend-long event has an "Art Jungle" where children can create art, plus an area where young people can sell their artwork! There will also be dance and live music concerts!
Santa Fe Zoo Party for the Planet - This event is a BLAST! On both Saturday and Sunday, 9 am to 2 pm, kids can explore the zoo and participate in fun activities such as crafts, face painting, training demonstrations, keeper talks, animal encounters, and more!
Celebrate the Child - This annual event (April 2, 10 am to 1 pm) brings non-profit, child-serving agencies from around Gainesville together in recognition of Child Abuse Prevention Month. Families will learn about local resources while participating in fun and FREE entertainment, games, face painting and more!
World Autism Awareness Day - Join families on April 2 in honor of Autism Awareness Month at this free community event. This event aims to promote and educate autism awareness through Alachua County!
Active Streets - On April 3, from 11 am to 3 pm, the streets of Downtown Gainesville transform for this fun family festival! Tons of FREE activities provided by local organizations.
Bradford County Strawberry Festival - On both Saturday and Sunday, enjoy family fun, entertainment, FREE train rides and bounce houses, plus tons of food and crafts vendors!
Cedar Key Fine Arts Festival -This weekend-long event hosts 120 artists and craftsmen, plus food, live music and kid's activities!
Stop the Stigma - This event runs from 12-3 pm on April 9 at Kanapaha Park and aims to "Stop the Stigma" against childhood mental illness. There will be tons of fun activities, including face painting, a bounce house and inflatable slide, Kiss 105.3 and more!
UF Veterinary Open House - This event is SO MUCH FUN! on April 9, tour the amazing Veterinary Hospital, play educational games, win prizes, and even bring teddy bears to the always-popular teddy bear clinic for "stitches" if they have holes!
Jest Fest - This fun and FREE event (on April 10) is located at the Historic Thomas Center and is full of hilarity and jest! So much fun for the whole family!
India Fest and Health Fair - Witness rich Indian culture and enjoy authentic food at this exciting, colorful and exuberant event on April 9! Plus there will be health assessments.
Florida Blueberry Festival - This event runs April 16-17, 10 am to 4 pm! Enjoy delicious food while watching jugglers and stilt people perform in the streets, visiting vendors, listening to live music, and having fun in the "Blueberry Kid's Zone!" There will even be a 1,000-foot SLIDE!
Reddick BBQ Festival - Another weekend-long event! In addition to craft vendors, clowns and live Christian music, local churches will battle it out to offer the best BBQ dishes.
Earth Day at the Florida Museum - Celebrate Earth Day at the Florida Museum of Natural History on April16 from 10 am to 3 pm! Participate in fun activities, learn about butterfly gardening, get conservation tips and more!
Swallowtail Spring Fest - On April 16, from 12-10 pm, visitors can tour the Swallowtail Farm, participate in fun activities, and enjoy workshops, local music and food!
Earth Day at the Harn Museum - Take a fun tour of the Harn museum on April 16, followed by a fun Earth Day art project . Learn about the wonders of nature across time and cultures!
Alachua Main Street Festival - On April 17, from 11 am to 5 pm, the streets of downtown Alachua will be filled with 200 vendors, live music, food and many FREE children's activities!
Fun4GatorKids Summer Activities Expo - THIS EVENT IS A MUST FOR FAMILIES IN ALACHUA COUNTY on April 23, 12-4 pm, at Westside Park! Learn about all of the amazing summer camps, activities, and programs offered in Alachua County. There are so many great options that will keep your kids busy and having fun this summer! Plus there will be some FREE FUN at the Expo! The entire event is FREE and open to the community!
High Springs Pioneer Days Festival - This event runs April 23-34 and is full of fun for the whole family! In addition to the exciting "Pets Overboard" show, full of a cast of pirates and their pets, there will be a petting zoo, pony rides, and a "Kids Korral" full of fun games! Don't forget to check out the Human Powered Snow Cone Wheel!
Earth Day at Dudley Farm - Dudley Farm is such a fun place to visit! Kids can try pumping water from a well, hand washing clothes and hanging them on a line, feeding the chickens, touring historic farm buildings and more! There will be extra hands-on activities on April 23 to celebrate Earth Day!
Shands & Kohl's Bike Rodeo and Summer Safety Fair - This fun event is hosted in the O'Dome Parking Lot, and runs from 9 am to noon on April 23. Parents can learn how to keep their kids safe this summer, while the children participate in interactive games and even a bicycle obstacle course! Every child will leave with a FREE bike helmet!
Tioga Car Show - Enjoy live entertainment and see automobiles of all makes and models at this FREE car show (on April 23) that benefits the Sebastian Ferrero Foundation!
Tree Fest - Hosted at Swamp Head Brewery on April 23, this event will feature food trucks and family-friendly activities in an effort to raise money for the Alachua Conservation Trust! Five trees will be planted for every beer purchased during the event!
GH&F: Family Fitness Festival at Kanapaha Park - On April 23, this fun event aims to encourage families to be more active and live healthier lives. There will be games, music and prize for the elementary schools with the most participants!

Cedar Lakes Woods and Gardens Spring Festival - This event runs both Saturday and Sunday, from 9:30 to 5 pm! While you walk around the beautiful gardens, you can visit plant, food and gift vendors, plus enjoy other fun festivities!
Zoo Backyard Habitat Day at Santa Fe College - Learn about ways to support native wildlife in YOUR backyard at this fun event, April 30, 9 am to 2 pm! Make bird houses with Home Depot, learn about building your own bat house from the Lubee Bat Conservancy, and make crafts to attract frogs and toads!
